                  A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY FINANCE 
                  OFFICER TO PAY DOUBLE TIME PAY TO CERTAIN 
                  EMPLOYEES WHO WORKED FEBRUARY 1-5, 1996, DUE 
                  TO WINTER STORM CONDITIONS, AND AUTHORIZING 
                  EXTRA COMPENSATION FOR CERTAIN SUPERVISORS FOR 
                  EACH EXTRA HOUR WORKED.
                  
                  
                                                     
                  
                  
       	    	 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF 
       CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE, That the City Finance Officer be and is 
       hereby authorized to make overtime payments to exempt City 
       employees in pay grades 1 through 11 and non-exempt employees who 
       were required to work overtime during the period beginning from 
       4:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 1, 1996, until 7:30 a.m. on 
       Monday, February 5, 1996.  Due to severe weather conditions, said 
       overtime payments shall be paid at the rate of two (2) times said 
       employees' normal hourly rates.  Exempt city employees in pay 
       grades 12 through 15, who were required to work overtime due to 
       the severe weather, but who are not eligible for overtime pay, 
       shall be awarded one hour of pay for each overtime hour worked.  
       This resolution shall not apply to any employees who were already 
       scheduled to work during said time periods.
